Remember the Blowout

One of the greatest tragedies of the BP oil disaster is that it may have been preventable. The National Commission on the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill noted that neither the culture of drilling safety nor the technology for cleaning up oil spills had advanced much since the Exxon Valdez disaster in 1989.
Philosopher George Santayana reminds us that "those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." Don't let a disaster like the BP oil spill happen again. Please take a few moments to share your own recollections of the oil spill and to watch the slide show Audubon released on the spill's six-month anniversary.
