The Refuge Ecology Protection, Assistance, and Immediate Response Act (REPAIR) addresses a major threat to refuges: invasive species. Invasive species crowd out habitat, food, and other resources necessary to support the wildlife that depend on the refuge. Since most wildlife refuges have been designated by Audubon as Important Bird Areas, this bill will help protect some of America's best bird habitat from one of their most severe threats.

Our National Wildlife Refuge System includes more than 100 million acres of habitat critical to wildlife. It protects a range of habitats from Arctic tundra to southwestern desert to wetlands to coral reefs. The refuge system provides opportunities for wildlife observation and photography, environmental education, and hunting and fishing for 40 million Americans each year. This important body of public lands deserves our protection and our support. Please cosponsor the Refuge Ecology Protection, Assistance, and Immediate Response (REPAIR) Act, S 3366. 
 
The REPAIR Act addresses a major threat to refuges: invasive species. Invasive species crowd out habitat, food, and other resources necessary to support the wildlife that depend on the refuge.
 
The bill authorizes REPAIR grants, which would go to states, local governments, and community groups to remove harmful non-native species and promote native species and their habitat on lands and waters on and adjacent to National Wildlife Refuges.
