The short explanation of this alert was:

Every 5 to 10 years Congress rewrites our nation's agriculture policy. This legislation has a huge effect on private lands conservation, energy policy, and ecosystem restoration, especially the health of the Mississippi River and the Gulf of Mexico.

More acres of private land are enrolled in the conservation programs of the USDA than there are acres in all of the National Wildlife Refuges in the lower 48 states, creating tens of millions of acres of habitat for birds and other wildlife as well as addressing other conservation concerns.

Please write to your U.S. Representative and Senators and urge them to support increased funding for conservation programs in the Farm Bill. Personalized messages are the most effective. Edit the letter below to let your members of Congress know why these conservation programs are important to YOU.
